Objetivos
This curricular unit will give students a thorough introduction to the fundamental principles of oilfield chemistry and corrosion. On completion of this module, students should be able to:
a) Explain the properties and application of a range of chemicals used in the oilfield, namely in corrosion control for oil and gas production
b) Understand the principal theories of corrosion science and engineering, with particular reference to the oil and gas industry

Métodos de ensino e atividades de aprendizagem
Theoretical- practical classes, with a more theoretical component where fundamental concepts are exposed, use audio-visual techniques. Illustrative applications of these concepts are solved, stimulating rational thinking and fostering a more critical spirit amongst students. In practical component classes the students solve application exercises, individually and independently. It is worth to mention that the time for tutorial orientation, which is meant to solve extra exercises or other assignments/projects.
