Objetivos

It is intended to initiate students on the basis of structural analysis of buildings, with the identification of existing actions and definition of actions to be taken in the design. In addition, an introduction to the dynamics of structures and seismic engineering is made, in order to lbe able to estimate the seismic action to be considered in the building. It is intended that, in the analysis of an existing structure, students will be able to define methodologies and calculation models to be used in the verification of its safety.

1. Introduction. Definition of the need for intervention. Definition of the level of intervention and bases for analysis and dimensioning
2. Structural security. Actions and combinations of actions in existing structures.
3. Dynamics of Structures. Characterization of a dynamic problem. Introduction to the formulation of movement equations. Natural frequency of vibration and resonance
4. Introduction to Seismic Engineering. Basic concepts of seismology. Definition of seismic action. Simplified methods of seismic analysis
6. Security Analysis and Verification of Existing Structures. Geometry. Topology. Materials and their properties. Simplified modeling and analysis of old structures.

General exposure of the materials using presentations (with images and animations) in Power-Point. Presentation of solved examples. Class and autonomous resolution of proposed theoretical and practical problems.
