Objetivos

It is intended that the students acquire basic knowledge and competence in Structural Analysis and Modelling (in a linear elastic context) by learning how to: conduct symmetry simplifications in thin plates and skeletal structures; obtain statically and cinematically admissible solutions in thin plates; solve skeletal structures using the force method and the displacement method (though matrixial calculus) considering applied forces, temperature variations and foundation displacements; use of software for structural analysis to solve skeletal structures and model slab panels with grid elements. Particularly, it is intended the students develop the adjustment ability to new situations as well as the ability to appraise critically each step of the solution procedure.

1.INTRODUCTION. Analysis of Structures. Fundamental concepts. Analysis models. The use of automatic calculation programs. 2. INTRODUCTION TO THE ANALYSIS OF SLABS. The hypotheses of Kirchhoff. Compatibility, elasticity and balance relations. The Lagrange equation. Boundary conditions. Statically and cinematically admissible solutions. Modelling with grid elements. 3. SYMMETRICAL STRUCTURES UNDER SYMMETRICAL AND ANTI-SYMMETRICAL ACTIONS. Symmetric and antisymmetric divisions. Simplifications of symmetry and anti-symmetric. 4. ISOSTATIC structures. Matrix formulation. Duality static/ kinematic. Calculation of displacements. 5. FORCE METHOD. Force Method equation. Physical interpretation. Temperature and support settlement. Métodos de ensino e atividades de aprendizagem

Theoretical classes using expository technique and trying to stimulate students' reasoning and critical thinking. Practical classes where students solve the exercises autonomously, guided by the responsible teacher.
Following the epidemiological situation caused by the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, it was applied:

- Synchronous classes through the ZOOM platform, with presentation of the theoretical material as well as carrying out and explaining exercises to apply the theoretical material.
- there were some evaluations carried out remotely, using the Test Module in Moodle, with different problems about the same subject for students.
