Objetivos
The objectives of this CU are:
To be able to use optical, electroanalytical, chromatographic methods, etc.;
To identify advantages and limitations for each technique;
To describe the functioning of each technique devices;
To use these devices knowing the best way of profiting from its potentialities;
Knowing the best technique to use in each situation (expected results and cost);
To identify and apply the preliminary steps that allowed an efficient use of each technique.

Métodos de ensino e atividades de aprendizagem
Lecture or applied theory classes will be administered, using a lecture-based approach, using for that purpose slides or overhead projector presentations. The classes will be planning with the aim to stimulate interest, reasoning and critical spirit of the students. In the applied theory classes the students will autonomously resolve the exercises.
The evaluation consists of 20% for the presentation/discussion of a scientific work and 80% for two tests or for the exam.

Fórmula de cálculo da classificação final
Evaluation in the academic period:
40% Test 1 + 40% Test 2 + 20% Presentation/discussion of a scientific paper.
Exam (all seasons):
100% Exam or 80% Exam + 20% Presentation/discussion of a scientific paper.
- The student who signs the work and does not appear in its oral presentation/discussion, can be assigned a null classification in that presentation (weight of 50% in the final classification of the work). A different classification may be given to students in the same group based on the commitment shown, the quality of the oral presentation and the domain of the theme.
- The two tests and the presentation/discussion of a scientific paper are compulsory as a condition of continuous assessment.
