Objetivos
The student should be able to: i) have basic knowledge
in matters related to construction sciences, namely:
construction materials, structural and non-structural
elements, construction processes, hygrothermal, acoustics,
ventilation, natural lighting; ii) design, with scientifically
based knowledge, current constructions, taking into account the
respect for existing legislation, regulation and standardization;
iii) carry out design, design, construction, inspection and
evaluation work involving the choice of the most appropriate
construction solutions, through a comparative analysis of different
solutions and the preparation of justifying calculations that
demonstrate their suitability.
Resultados de aprendizagem e competências
It is intended that the student acquires skills of construction processes in the area of coatings, from the buried surfaces to the roofs of buildings. It is thus intended that the student acquires skills to be able to choose the most appropriate solutions in each case, in view of all constraints.

Programa
1. Introduction.
2. Slab solutions using prefabricated elements. Main
construction aspects and details: floors based on
prestressed joists; floors based on pre-slabs; floors
based on honeycomb boards; mixed steel-concrete floors;
floors based on wooden elements.
3. Inclined and flat roofing solutions for buildings;
coating elements. Singular zones.
4. Waterproofing systems for single areas of sloping and
flat roofs.
5. Waterproofing and drainage systems for walls and floors
in contact with the ground.
6. Wall and ceiling coverings with application adherent to
the support or independent of the support. Classification
of wall coverings. Types of materials: plastered mortars,
natural or artificial stone or ceramic coatings,
ETICS-type coatings, slab coatings applied to “ventilated
facades” with IT, paint coatings. Characterization and
evaluation of the quality of wall coverings. Most frequent
anomalies and their origin.
7. Types of frames and glass. Ventilation in window and
door openings.
8. Floor coverings: natural stone; ceramic elements;
linoleum or vinyl flooring. NP EN 685 classification.

Métodos de ensino e atividades de aprendizagem
The contents of the course are presented throughout the classes using slide shows. At the end of each class, students carry out a short form or constructive details on the given subject. The constructive participation of students in classes is encouraged and valued. Whenever possible, study visits will be made to new or remodeling works. Seminars are organized for students.
