Objetivos

The objetive of this course is to give basic training on reinforced concrete buildings design. Consolidate and aggregate formation in the areas of structures and concrete and empower its articulation with training in the
areas of construction, directing them to prepare a final product: the design of structures. Enabling the use of
software tools for structural analysis and computer aided design. Develop a critical spirit in relation to the
phases of development, including modeling and analysis and verification of results. Structuring and
representing information constituent of a project.

Resultados de aprendizagem e competências

The various types of structural systems commonly used in reinforced concrete buildings are revised. The
following is a review of the various types of actions that can act on buildings. These topics will support
structural conception. We will present some rules for pressizing. Then it will be discussed several models for
the analysis of building structures (with different levels of sophistication), so that students acquire an overview
of the problem. The conception of buildings in seismic zones have special attention, including the choice of
structural solutions that best fit the soil conditions, the type of regularity of the building and the level of
ductility to explore . Finally, some aspects of the design of formwork will also be discussed, as will be studied
problems involving the design of timber structures.

Factors affecting the design of structures. Types of structural systems. Actions in buildings (Eurocodes 0, 1, 7
and 8). Structural conception: loads and imposed deformations; horizontal actions; structural flooring
systems. Preliminary design of structural elements. Models for structural analysis under vertical and horizontal
actions. Conception of buildings in seismic regions. Energy dissipation energy and ductility. Specific aspects
of design and detailing of DCM Eurocode 8 ductility class.
Woods. Introduction. Design codes. Physical Properties. General considerations of the project. Design
according to Eurocode 5.

Métodos de ensino e atividades de aprendizagem

Overall exposure of materials using presentations (with animations and images) in Power-Point. Presentation
of practical problems. Use of software for linear dynamic analysis of structures. Classes will be held in
computer classrooms where students use computer programs for solving practical problems.
