The studente must be able to:
-Explain the main equipment used in heating and renewable energy installations;
-Characterize equipment and operating conditions of heating systems and carry out small sizing projects;
-Characterize equipment and operating conditions of renewable energy systems based on biomass, solar, wind and geothermal energy and carry out small sizing projects.
1.Economy of Energy
Energy Consumption and Rational Energy Utilization.
2.Heating
Home, building and industrial heating systems. Combustion, fuels and emissions. Efficiency and sizing of heating systems. Cogeneration plants.
3.Renewable Energy
Legislation. Financial analysis of investments in renewable energy.
Types of biomass. Biomass potential. Processes and technologies of biomass to energy conversion.
5.Solar Energy
Solar radiation. Physical and geometric characterization; climate data. Types of installations and thermal collectors. Efficiency and sizing of solar thermal installations. Types of photovoltaic installations. Efficiency and sizing of photovoltaic systems.
Wind resource assessment. Selection, evaluation and sizing of wind systems.
The teaching method is based on:
Theoretical-Practical classes in which the different contents are exposed followed by a participatory method of the students through the resolution of practical problems on the topics.
Practical-Laboratory classes in which in one phase students will perform experimental tests with various heating and renewable energy equipment in order to deepen their knowledge and in the next phase students will develop group work of sizing and energy analysis of heating and renewable energy systems.
The Moodle platform will be used to make content available, for interaction with students and to support assessment.
