At the end of the UC the student should be able to:
1-Understand/explain the constitution and respective operating principle of electrical machines:
Direct Current Machine;
Three Phase Asynchronous Machine;
2-Understand and apply the mathematical models of electrical machines in steady state;
3-Analyze the different operating points and electromechanical and mechanical characteristics;
4-Analyze the energy balance and efficiency of electrical machines.
5. Identify the various power semiconductors and know their different characteristics;
6-Understand/explain the constitution and respective operating principle of power electronics convertres:
- AC/DC converters;
- AC/AC converters;
- DC/DC converters;
- DC/AC converters;
The teaching of this course is divided into two kinds of classes: theoretical-practical and practical (laboratorial).
Exposition of theoretical subjects, performed with the combination of the expository method and the interpretive method, appealing to the students' participation. Solving application problems in which the active participation of students is promoted;
The participatory method is followed, although other active methods are also used, depending on the situation. Carrying out laboratory works with the support of specific guides.
