Objetivos
- Know how to read and interpret technical drawings;
- Ability to perform technical drawings by the method of multiple-view projections, quick perspectives and schematic drawings;
- Know how to use 2D computer aided design systems;
- Know how to model isolated parts using 3D parametric software and 2D technical drawing generation;
- To develop skills for future developments in computer aided design systems.

- Draw freehand parts by the method of orthogonal projections;
- Elaborate the design of a part in freehand perspective;

- Design and generate technical drawings of parts using parametric 3D CAD software.

Programa
1. General Aspects of Technical Drawing
Introduction to technical design and basic standards.
2. Orthogonal Projections
Types of planar projections. Multiple-view projections. Representation of freehand drawings.
3. Cuts and Sections
Definition of cuts and sections. Types of Cuts.
4. Perspectives
Types of representations. Freehand sketching the perspective of an object.
5. Dimensioning
General aspects of dimensioning. Dimensioning of multiple-views and perspectives.
6. Technical Drawing of Installations
Conventions used in the representation of buildings. Symbology used in the design of water and air distribution networks in buildings.
7. Computer Aided Design (CAD)
Familiarization with 2D and 3D CAD systems. Traditional 2D CAD system. Symbolic representations over architectural drawings. 3D parametric drawing of parts. Generation of technical drawings with dimensions and annotations.

Métodos de ensino e atividades de aprendizagem
Practical activities for the execution of various freehand drawings from physical models and graphical representations of various methods.
Laboratory classes for performing several drawings in 2D and 3D CAD systems, with CAD solutions similar to the ones used by local industry.
Elaboration of a final project in CAD by a group of students, whenever possible using real cases, which includes a project description written in English.

Minimum grade in the CAD test: 8 val.

Freehand exercises performed during practical classes: 45%
CAD drawings and project: 40%
CAD test: 15%
Penalty of 3 val. is applied for drawings not submitted on time.
Avaliação especial (TE, DA, ...)
For EN, ER and EE the final grade is calculated in the same way. The list of works to be done is diferrent.
