Objetivos

Provide students with knowledge of the importance of the building sector in energy consumption with their national and Community legislation;

Knowledge about passive air conditioning. Provide students with knowledge about building energy simulation using simulation programs, understanding the bases of their calculation algorithms and learning how to use them for different purposes, namely for calculating thermal loads in the design of HVAC systems, for calculating the energy consumption and studies of energy efficiency measures and for energy certification of buildings. Knowledge of Energy regulation of buildings, Energy Certification System of buildings, application of Regulation of Energy Performance of Commercial Buildings and Services.) Knowledge of passive and active measures to increase the energy efficiency of buildings.

Know active energy efficiency measures in buildings;

Know the various types of software of energy simulation of buildings;

Know how to work with at least one dynamic building simulation program;

Apply the dynamic building simulation program for the purposes of system design and air conditioning and for estimating the building's energy consumption;

Know how to apply the national energy performance regulation of commercial and service buildings;

Know how to use the dynamic building simulation program to determine the energy efficiency class of a building.

Chapter 1 - General principles: Building sector and energy consumption; Energy regulation, types of energy simulation of buildings. Energy Certification System of Buildings and Regulations.

Chapter 2 - Passive Climate: Techniques. Bioclimatic architecture. Passive solar acclimatization. Thermal inertia. Natural ventilation. Evaporative cooling. Double facade

Chapter 3 - Energy simulation of buildings. Models and algorithms and clima. Calculation of thermal loads. Fresh air. Design Conditions; thermal loads. Simulation for determination of energy consumption. Onezone and multizone simulation. Estimation of consumption and costs of energy and CO2 emissions.

Chapter 4 - RECS.– General aspects. Design Requirements. Determination of energy performance indicators. New and existing buildings. Regulatory verification and energy classification.

Chapter 5 - Energy Efficiency. Energy efficiency measures. Audits. Energy Management Systems.

Métodos de ensino e atividades de aprendizagem

Expositive and participative with predominance of practical applications. Distributed assessment with development of works and one test. The teaching methodology will focus on the use of a case study that will be developed in an energy simulation program in which all the subjects taught will be exemplified.

There will be four works developed in groups of  of 2-4 students, each of which will have a report and a presentation. Final work will also be done based on the resolution of a case study (energy certification, energy efficiency improvement measures or other that is being developed at IPS and which has been requested by an external entity). Reports and presentations will be made in English.

The evaluation will be based on an individual evaluation base in a test a weight of 50% an evaluation of the works carried out with a weight of 50%.

The evaluation will be based on an individual evaluation base in a test a weight of 50% an evaluation of the works carried out with a weight of 50%.

Component A: A mini-test and a test (continuous assessment), with the possibility of recovery through the exam of the normal season, recovery season or special season.
Component B: Practical Work with 2 assessment phases (mandatory)
Final Grade Calculation = 50% (Component A) + 50% (Component B).

Minimum grade in the mini-test and in the test: 7 values
