To provide specialized knowledge to the implementation of small scale microcontroller based projects and to develop the ability to be able to do critical analysis of microcontroller based systems, program debug and both autonomous and team work.
Being able to implement small scale microcontroller based projects.
Have the ability to do critical analysis of microcontroller based systems and program debug.
Be able to do both autonomous and team work.
Digital systems and electronics.
1- Microprocessor architecture.
2- Study of a RISC microcontroller family.
3- Peripherals.
4- Introduction to the C language.
5 – Implementation of projects.
In the TP classes the topics and examples are presented. Practical programming exercises are also done.
The students develop small thematic laboratory works and a bigger final project that integrates the knowledge acquired previously.
The laboratory works and the project are done in groups of 2 students.
Work laboratories:
Lab1 – Introduction to the software development tools and to the hardware – 1 class
Lab2 – I/O ports as outputs – 2 classes
Lab3 – I/O ports as inputs – 2 classes
Lab4 – Timers/counters and interrupts – 2 classes
Lab5 – Serial port – 2 classes
The reports should be delivered in .pdf using the Moodle platform, until one week after the end of the work.
Project (theme defined by the teacher) - rest of the semester (5 or 6 weeks).

It is mandatory the enrollment of the students in the Moodle platform.
The students have to attend 75% of the classes to be approved.
The equipment should be returned at the end of the semester.
It is mandatory the completion of all the laboratory works and of the project.
All the evaluation components have the minimum grade of 9.5 values.
There are 3 evaluation components: laboratory works, project and theory.
Laboratory works (Nl):
Report (20%) + participation in the classes and individual discussion (80%)
Nl = arithmetic mean of the laboratory grades.
Project (Np):
20% for the report (due until the 28th June)
80% participation in the classes and individual discussion (on the 29th June)
Non attendance to the discussions or non delivery of the reports implies a 0 grade on those components.
Nf=0.4Nl + 0.3Np + 0.3Nt
Nf- final grade
Nl – laboratories' grade
Np- project's grade
Nt – theory grades (by mini-tests in continuous evaluation or by exam)
All the evaluation components have the minimum grade of 9.5 values.
