Rui Manuel Carvalho dos Santos de Azevedo Antunes is currently professor with the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal (IPS) and a researcher with CTS-Uninova and CIIAS-IPS, Portugal. He obtained the PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2018 from NOVA School of Science and Technology (FCT NOVA), NOVA University of Lisbon, the MSc degree and the 5-year degree in Electrical Engineering and Computers from Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), Lisbon University, respectively in 1999 and in 1993. He serves as reviewer for award-winning Q1 IEEE Access journal, Q1 IEEE Sensors journal, Q1 Elsevier HardwareX journal and also for MDPI Biosensors, Sensors, Electronics, Inventions, Machines, Prosthesis, Multimodal technologies and interaction, Energies and Applied Sciences journals, IEEE Potentials magazine and for several IEEE conferences. He is the co-author of more than 40 publications, 8 of which in scientific journals (7 as first author), 7 in book chapters (5 as first author) and 26 in conferences. He received 2 first author awards and several other distinctions. His scientific activity is focused on human-machine interaction, assistive technology, sensory and control systems, and electronics.
