Objetivos

- Understand the role, impact, and interaction of organizations with the surrounding environment.
- Distinguish and understand the different components and competencies of Management.
- Understand the process of organization of a company and relationship with the surrounding environment;
- Understand the concept of planning as a management function;
- Understand the basic concepts of Marketing;
- Understand the role of production management in the company;
- To acquire knowledge for assessing the financial position of a company;
- Understand the importance and main activities of Human Resource Management.

Resultados de aprendizagem e competências

As learning outcomes, students are expected to acquire the following competencies:
- Generic competences: students should understand the role, impact and interaction of organisations and companies with their environment, as well as their internal functioning in a functional and systemic perspective. They should also obtain the competences that will allow them to identify the main factors that affect the life of the company and knowledge that will facilitate their understanding of the subjects that will be studied during the degree course.
- Specific competences: Students should be able to identify the conditioning factors of business activity, the basic forms of structures, know basic concepts of marketing, production management, financial management and human resources management.

Métodos de ensino e atividades de aprendizagem

This is a theoretical and practical curricular unit, whose dynamism is based on the study and discussion of themes/cases, namely:
- In theoretical-practical classes will be implemented the expositive-participatory method, using audiovisual media and study of themes related to the syllabus, with the involvement of the student in his analysis and discussion.
- In addition, e-learning activities will be developed on the Moodle platform to support teaching, such as interaction forums to discuss topics, questions, news, work delivery, information repository.
- Students will have to develop and present a group work that will be discussed in each of the classes.

Obtenção de frequência

According to the General Assessment Standards and the decisions of the Pedagogical Council.
For the 2021/2022 academic year, by decision of the Pedagogical Council it was defined that to perform a UC in continuous assessment the student has to attend a minimum percentage of 75% of classes (by typology).
Students who intend to attend continuous assessment must be enrolled in one of the classes of the subject and must have their situation in order.

Fórmula de cálculo da classificação final

The assessment in the curricular unit of Introduction to Management results from the weighted average of the above mentioned elements, that is:
(Ti1+Ti2)/2*0,30+TG*0,30.

TG - Presentation/discussion of a written work

The non-performance and/or the lack of delivery of any of the elements of assessment previously mentioned (tests or group work), annuls the continuous assessment.
