Objetivos

- Know different strategies of organizations for the environment.
- Know how to apply methodologies and environmental management tools in organizations
- Know the fundamentals and main lines of application of the tools to support the environmental management of products
- Know and understand the concepts associated with risk management
- Know how to identify and characterize natural and technological risks with effects on the environment at a local, regional or global level
- Know the methods and tools for risk assessment and management
- Plan continuous improvement: audits, training, improvement actions
- Know how to integrate environmental and risk management in the sustainability strategy of organizations

Resultados de aprendizagem e competências

Students acquire skills in using the following methodologies and tools:

- Environmental management in organizations: ISO 14001 and EMAS, Agenda XXI, specific certifications

- Environmental product management tools: LCA, eco-design, eco-marketing and eco-label

- Risk assessment and management: concepts, typologies, methods, quantification, evaluation, decision

- Know how to integrate environmental and risk management in the sustainability strategy of companies: eco-efficiency, sustainability indicators and reports, communication associated with risk. Prevention of climate change

- Continuous improvement planning: audits, training, improvement actions

Environmental policies and organizational strategies: pollution control strategies, risk and cost prevention strategies, innovation strategies.
Environmental management of products and consumption: legislation, LCA-Product Life Cycle Assessment, eco-design, eco-marketing and eco-label.
Environmental management associated with processes: legislation, eco-efficiency.
Environmental management of organizations: legislation, EMAS, Agenda XXI, other certifications by area of activity.
Hazard, risk, disaster, catastrophe and vulnerability concepts
Typologies: natural, technological and mixed risks
Risk assessment, quantification and management methods and tools
Environmental risks and climate change
Risk under environmental responsibility,
Measurement and communication: Environmental performance indicators, Risk perception and communication. Environmental and sustainability reports.
