Objetivos
This curricular unit has the goal of introducing the students to the different methods in imagiology.
It focuses on the fundamental basis, technologies and clinical applications until the retrieving of the biological/medical image. Latest developments in imaging applied to biomedical technology will also be attended during this unit.
Resultados de aprendizagem e competências
The contents of this curricular unit allow for the understanding of the physical foundations and device functioning, targeting image formation and its later enhancement.
This will allow the student to understand the limitations and to develop a critical mindset that can prompt them to further develop the existing techniques.

The pedagogic methodology used in this curriculum unit is based on two components: lecture method and work in
laboratory environment.
The e-learning platform Moodle will be used to support teaching, namely as repository of information, forum and submission of reports.

The evaluation of this curricular unit is based on one evaluation test and laboratory assignments related to the unit's contents.
Minimum score for approval = 9.5 points
Evaluation test:
- Multiple choice questions
- 50% of the final score
Laboratory assignments:
- 8 reports with weekly or bi-weekly frequency, for 40% of the final score
- Final presentation, with the submission of the slides, for 10% of the final score
