Objetivos
Certify students with the skills necessary for instrumentation and measures theme.
Resultados de aprendizagem e competências
The students will be able to:
1. to have the basic knowledge of metrology concepts, namely, accuracy, sensitivity, resolution and uncertainty and their application in the instrumentation and measurement areas;
2. to know the International System of Units (SI);
3. to use analog and digital measuring instruments and to understand their operating principles;
4. to identify the mains specifications and limitations of the measuring instruments;
5. to know the working principle of measurement transducers and design electrical circuits to measure industrial quantities.

The approval in the discipline can be obtained by continuous evaluation or by final examination.
Continuous assessment and final assessment includes a mandatory laboratory component and theoretical component.
The
written component consists of:
1) Perform 2 continuous evaluation tests.
or
2) Take the final exam.
The
laboratory component consists of:
1) Execution of the 4 lab assignments with delivery of the respective report by e-mail until the last laboratory class.
2) Execution of a lab project with delivery of the respective report and software (on a date according to the laboratory shift), with oral discussion in that same class.
The laboratory component is exempt from students who have attended it, with approval, in the immediately preceding academic year.
Continuous assessment comprises the written component of the 2 tests, the 4 laboratory assignments and the laboratory project. The continuous writing component consists of carrying out two interim tests (T1 and T2) on dates to be defined.The
final exam evaluation consists of the normal period exam. Anyone who does not have the approval in the theoretical component of the continuous or final evaluation can recover in the examination of the time of appeal. Anyone who has passed the theoretical component of the continuous assessment may improve the grade in the examination of the resource period. The minimum grade of the resource exam is 9,5 points.
All exams and interim tests are written, individual and without consultation.
If the teacher responsible for the discipline deems it necessary, final classifications of more than 16 values will have to be defended in oral tests. If the student does not attend the oral test, his final grade will be 16 points.
Rules for conducting tests:
• When requested, it is mandatory to present an identification document during the tests.
• Only written tests in EST Setúbal test/exam notebooks are accepted.
• Leaving the room can only take place 30 minutes after the start of the test/exam and implies the final delivery of the test, and the delay in entry cannot, under any circumstances, exceed 15 minutes.
• During the tests, calculators with graphic or alphanumeric capabilities may only be used if the teacher authorizes it.
• During the tests, the handling or display of cell phones (which must be turned off) and other electronic equipment is not allowed, and the use of any of this type of equipment is a reason for cancellation of the test.Fórmula de cálculo da classificação final
The continuous assessment grade (N) is calculated according to the following formula:
N = 0,6*T + 0,2*L1 + 0,2*L2
with
T, L1 and L2 >= 9,5 values,
at where:
T: Mean of the scores of the 2 interim tests or grade of normal period exam;
L1: Grade of the 4 laboratory works;
L2: Grade from the lab project.
In continuous evaluation, attending the 2 tests is mandatory. The grade of each of the 2 tests (T1 and T2) must be greater than or equal to 9,5 values.
The minimum mark of all continuous evaluation components (T1, T2, L1 and L2) is 9,5 values.
