Objetivos

Operations Management curricular unit aims at characterizing the business framework, address the trends in technology use, organizational structure, and approaches to productive systems. 

Resultados de aprendizagem e competências

The contents of this curricular unit are structured in order to enable the student (1) Develop its analysis and critical ability on activities performed in the operations management scope, (2) Know and know how to apply methodologies and techniques applicable to the control and improvement of the process and product, (3) Assimilate the principles underlying the new approaches to production systems and develop capabilities to contribute to their implementation in a real working context, (4) Acquire autonomy to further explore the contents addressed in this curricular unit.

  2. Design and Planning of the Production Structure



           - Location, Production systems and Layouts

           - Projects Scheduling and Control

           - Mapping Operations and Materials Flow

           - Materials and Warehouses Management

Presentation, discussion and case studies about the programmatic contents so as to the student develops abilities for discussing and analysing the addressed subjects, take knowledge and learn how to use techniques and tools for planning, controlling and improving processes and products, in addition to be able of deepening the presented contents and explore new ones.

Approval by Continuous assessment or Exam

- Continuous assessment:
Alternative AvalC1- Two tests* with no additional work if the score of each test is equl or grather than 9 values (in a maximum of twenty values). If the score in a test (value not rounded) is higher than 8 and lower than 9, it is required a theoretical-applied work about the contents of the test whose score is inside this range of values.
Alternative AvalC2- Perform two tests (final score higher than 9) and one theoretical-applied work*.

- Assessment by Exam 
This is either a student option or compulsory when the score of a test is lower than 8 values or when the final score from Alternatives AvalC1 is lower than 9,5 values.

Alternative Ex- The student can complement the Exam score with one research work*.

*The research work is optional, though its content must be outlined 30 days before the last classes day.


Student must confirm its participation in each test or exam two days before the due date.

Fórmula de cálculo da classificação final

Final score of AvalC1 = average of the two tests score

Final score of AvalC2 = 70% (average of the two tests score) + 30% (research work)

 



Final score of Exam = exam score

Final score of Alternative Ex = 70% (exam score) + 30% (research work*)

*the research work is optional.

Final score equal or greather than 17 values requires from the student an oral exam to keep the obtained score. As alternative to oral exam, the student can make a writen work whose content is specified by the teacher who is responsable of the curricular unit.Otherwise, the final score is equal to 16 values.
