Objetivos

Identify and characterize the various power semiconductors. Study of operation of various types of electronic power converters. Study of the effects on the electric power grid (and loads) of the functioning of power electronic converters. Active, reactive, deformant and apparent power in the electric power system subject to non-sinusoidal alternating currents.

Resultados de aprendizagem e competências

At the end of the Curricular Unit the student should be able to:
1. Have an overview of the importance of this subject within a professional context.
2. Identify the various power semiconductors and be aware of their various characteristics..
3. Identify the different types of electronic power converters, and their practical applications.
4. Know the effects of some of these converters on the electrical grid
5. Understand the operation of electronic power converters that allow conversions of the AC/DC, AC/AC, DC/DC and AC/AC types.
