Objetivos
Provide students with knowledge of building ventilation to ensure indoor air quality (QAI). Know the regulations and the main standards of ventilation. Know the principles of natural ventilation and mechanical ventilation and know how to design ventilation systems.
Resultados de aprendizagem e competências
Know the pollutants in the indoor air, the regulatory limits, the equipment and methodologies for evaluating the quality of indoor air. Know how to calculate outdoor air flow using standards and regulations. Know how to design natural ventilation and mechanical ventilation systems. Know how to design duct networks and fans.

-Introduction to Building Ventilation and Indoor Air Quality: Introduction to Ventilation; Air pollutants inside;
- Natural ventilation of buildings: Natural ventilation; rates of natural ventilation and infiltration; Natural ventilation and regulations
- Mechanical ventilation of buildings: Introduction to mechanical ventilation systems in buildings; Fundamental concepts; Low and high speed systems; Constant and variable air flow; Mechanical ventilation and regulations;
- Mechanical ventilation of buildings - Network dimensioning of ducts and their components; Sizing methods and programs;
- Fans and Features: Characteristic curves. Laws and types of fans; Flow regulation;
- Air diffusion components: Types of diffusers and grids; Selection criteria;
- Main components of Air Handling Units: Different Sections; Dimensioning of AHUs;
- Internal Air Quality Audits: Audit and verification methodologies.

Métodos de ensino e atividades de aprendizagem
The teaching methodology will focus on a presentation of the programmatic contents that will be carried out in person, followed by three autonomous works of the students based on research to deepen topics, solve problems and carry out small projects, using design programs. A full-scale laboratory testing of fans will also be conducted so that students can apply the acquired knowledge.
The methodology will have a strong online component expected in the time of contact with students and based on the moodle platform that in addition to the availability of content and support material will also be
used to discuss topics and clarify doubts.
