Objetivos

At the end of the UC the student must know the origins of the costs and prices of electricity; interpret an electric bill; be able to do an analysis of electricity tariff alternatives; identify opportunities to rationalize electricity consumption for lighting and power systems; perceive the operation of reactive energy compensation systems; to perceive and to identify possible causes of disturbances of the characteristics of the electrical quantities; identify alternatives for the local production of electricity and size a local production facility. The student should be able to combine the operation of the generation systems with static energy storage systems, in a consumption facility, and mobile (electric mobility). The student should also be able to explore different roles of consumer and production facilities (prosumer) in a smart grid.

Métodos de ensino e atividades de aprendizagem

The UC will be taught using expository and demonstrative methods. Students will have practical component to perform. It is intended that practical applications be supported, whenever possible, by case studies based on actual situations. Activities supported by the "Moodle" platform.

Student performance in both theoretical and practical components will be assessed. Performance results on both components will contribute to the final grade.

The evaluation will be phased, with tests and individual and / or group work.
