Objetivos

General objectives:

-Give the student an overview of the fundamentals of Chemistry in the context of their basic training;
-Give the student the essential foundations for understanding the analytical methods applied to the Environment;
-Lead the student to understand the relevance of Chemistry in natural systems and environmental technologies.

Resultados de aprendizagem e competências

Specific objectives - skills to be acquired (knowledge, skills and attitudes):

-Know the units of concentration of solutions;
-Be able to make the necessary calculations for the preparation of solutions;
-Be able to prepare solutions in the laboratory;
-Be able to make stochiometric calculations, determining quantities of necessary reagents and obtained products.
-Know the difference between irreversible reaction and chemical equilibrium and know the various types of chemical equilibrium;

Métodos de ensino e atividades de aprendizagem

The classes have theoretical-practical typology, since it is a curricular unit with the objective of operationalization of concepts. The participated and interactive exhibition method is adopted, even in the introduction of theoretical concepts. It seeks to lead students to draw conclusions and learn through the active resolution of exercises, guiding them in this process.
The curricular unit has an essential laboratory component, intending to illustrate in practice the theoretical concepts. In laboratory classes, students perform experimental work according to the provided protocols, and then prepare a questionnaire or report. In these classes the experimental method and group work are put into practice.

Tipo de avaliação

Distributed evaluation with final exam

Componentes de Avaliação

Designation Peso (%)
Teste 70,00
Trabalho laboratorial 30,00
Total: 100,00

Componentes de Ocupação

Designation Tempo (Horas)
Estudo autónomo 72,00
Frequência das aulas 60,00
Trabalho laboratorial 30,00
Total: 162,00

Obtenção de frequência

Distributed evaluation without the obligation of final examination
Continuous evaluation, by 3 tests, assuming a minimum attendance of 85 % to the classes of the curricular unit.

2nd test: November 12
3rd test: December 17
4th test: January 28
(these dates need approval by the Pedagogical Council)

THEORETICAL-PRACTICAL MARK
Approval in the theoretical-practical component can be obtained by continuous evaluation (3 tests) or by examination.

The student whose arithmetic mean of the tests is greater than or equal to 9.5 val., will be approved in the theoretical-practical component, provided that in none of the tests the mark was less than 8.0 val.

LABORATORY MARK
Minimum laboratory mark: 9.5 val.

FINAL MARK
The final mark is the weighted average of the laboratory mark (30%) and the theoretical-practical mark (70%).

The students with recognized Worker-Student status who missed more than 1 laboratory work will necessarily perform in the final exam, a group specifically related to the laboratory component of the curricular unit.
The students who choose to perform continuous evaluation (tests) and who missed more than 1 laboratory work should also perform this specific group on the laboratory component of the curricular unit, on the date of Normal Season exam.

-To perform the curricular unit in continuous evaluation, the student must have a minimum attendance to classes of 85%.

-Without the frequency of laboratory classes and delivery of the respective reports/questionnaires, the student will not be able to obtain approval in the curricular unit. A MAXIMUM of 1 missed Lab class is allowed.

Fórmula de cálculo da classificação final

FM = 0.70*TM + 0.30*LM

TM = (T1+T2+T3)/3

FM - Final mark
TM - average of test marks
LM - Laboratory mark
