Objetivos

Currently, companies and institutions have computer networks permanently connected to the internet. Ensuring the integrity, confidentiality and availability of data and its routing on the network is a daily task for IT managers and technicians.

In this course unit, various security aspects that must be addressed in the design, implementation and maintenance of the IT infrastructure are addressed. Practical mechanisms for real-time monitoring of the operation of computer networks are also studied.

Resultados de aprendizagem e competências

This course aims to provide students with knowledge about the main Operating Systems used in the implementation of Network Services. It is also the objective of this UC to transmit knowledge about the characteristics of the server hardware and its hosting.

Métodos de ensino e atividades de aprendizagem

Theoretical-practical classes with exposition of the subject and resolution of exercises aimed at consolidating the acquired knowledge.

Laboratory classes, in which the Windows Server and Linux Server operating systems are configured in virtual machines.

A virtual infrastructure based on Windows Server is built throughout the classes with different services, like ADDS, Web Server, File share, among others.

The UC's final project is to replicate the work done on Windows Server but through an open source operating system, in this case Linux Server.

Ms Windows 10
Oracle Virtual Box
VMWare
Filezilla
Bind9 DNS Server
Proxy Squid
Apache Web Server
