Objetivos
This curricular unit has the goal of introducing the students to the different methods in imagiology.
It focuses on the fundamental basis, technologies and clinical applications until the retrieving of the biological/medical image. The latest developments in imaging applied to biomedical technology will also be discussed during this unit.
Resultados de aprendizagem e competências
The contents of this curricular unit allow for the understanding of the physical foundations and device functioning, targeting image formation and its later enhancement.
This will allow the student to understand the limitations and to develop a critical mindset that can prompt them to further develop the existing techniques.

Continuous evaluation
Theoretical component (TP):
- 1 written test (TE)
Pratical component (PL):
- 1 intermediate report (RI)
- 1 hands-on project (PP), divided in 4 components
Please note:
The intermediate report and the hands-on project shall be conducted as group work (2 or 3 students).
Evaluation in exam season:
- 1 written test (TE)
- 1 hands-on project (PP)
Please note:
In exam season, individual works will be allowed. The written test will include questions from both theoretical and pratical components.

Obtenção de frequência
Continuous assessment in classroom context.
Written test (theoretical component) + intermediate reports and hands-on project (pratical component)
Minimum classification required for approval: 9.5 points
Every student will have the possibility to resit the written test in the first exam season - the best score will prevail
Fórmula de cálculo da classificação final
Continuous evaluation:
Final classification = 0.40*TE + 0.15*RI + 0.45*PP
Evaluation in exam season:
Final classification = 0.60*TE + 0.40*PP
