General objective
The objective is to develop students’ knowledge of English in several areas, such as reading comprehension, writing, correct use of technical terms, grammar, fluency and personal interaction. Students will be acquainted with concepts and procedures used in the workplace, and will be able to apply technical language to specific contexts.
Learning outcomes and competencies
Part I – Career Management
-Get acquainted with the concept of career management and understand its relevance in the 21st-century;
- understand and analyse specific texts or articles;
-acquire and apply vocabulary related to the world of work;
- correct use of grammar structures (Questions/Passive voice and verb tenses);
- communicate ideas and discuss topics related to career management with fluency;
- produce written texts about topics connected to career management.
Part II- English in the context of new technologies
-Understand and analyse specific texts or articles;
-correct use of technical vocabulary and specific grammar (If Clauses / Reported speech and verb tenses);
- communicate ideas and discuss technical and general topics with fluency;
- produce written specific texts about new technologies.
Part III- Project
Develop a group work about a technical topic related to each specific course and present the results to the class.
Métodos
In the classroom students will be assigned a variety of activities that include:
- team work/pair work
-reading comprehension
-technical vocabulary acquisition
-grammar practice
- discussions to improve fluency /communication skills
- listening activities and visualisation of thematic videos
-brainstorming
Some of these pedagogical practices are based on active learning principles.

Continuous assessment formula:
- 2 evaluation tests (30%+30%) = 60%
- Project: group work concerning a technical topic related to the course = 40% (20% Essay+ 20% Presentation using PowerPoint, Padlet or Wakelet)
Final mark= T1 (30%) +T2 (30%) +Proj.(40%)
Important observations:
1- The Project must be written and discussed within the continuous assessment period. Therefore, project submission won't be allowed during the exam period.
2-The mark of each element (each test and project) is rounded to the decimal digit, while the overall assessment will be rounded to the nearest unit.
Exam formula:
In the final exam, the project will count 40% and the written exam will count 60% of the overall evaluation process.
Final mark= Exam(60%)+ Project (40%)
During the test(s) or exam no additional means of help (documents or any type of technological device) will be allowed.
