Objetivos
The curricular internship is a fundamental tool and opportunity for finalist students to use their acquired knowledge over the course. The student is integrated into a work group in research institutes, biotechnology companies or faculties and it is expected that he develops part of a project and skills, with initiative and critical judgment. In the case of the student chooses a biotechnological project, the main aim is to introduce the initiative and methodic spirit for the accomplishment of a conception project. It is aimed to stimulate the enterprising capacity and create skills for students to be the agents of change anywhere they work. In particular, the project aims to develop the ability to research and solve problems, enhance the synthesis capacity and knowledge integration, leadership and critical spirit.

Each student, should choose a biotechnological Project from available information in a script (includes patents). In addition, the student must make the required adjustments and corrections, in order to perform an economic analysis of the project. After discussion with the supervisors, alteration should be made, observing their impact on the economic analysis. Students should also perform mass and energy balances to each piece of equipment, as well as to scale up them.
In the case of a curricular internship, students must choose, propose and contact companies, faculties where they would like to work. They should also write a work plan to be discussed with the supervisors.

Internship/project with a duration of 524 h (Del. 19/69, CTC, ESTBarreiro-IPS), preparation of a Report subject to presentation (in English) in a public exam.
Fórmula de cálculo da classificação final
Final Classification = ((C1+C2+C3+C4)/4) * 60%) + (C5 * 20%) + (C6 * 20%)
The criteria considered are as follows:
C1 - Competencies inherent to the professional profile - this criterion is evaluated in equal parts:
a. Responsibility and commitment to the proposed work,
b. Dynamism and initiative,
c. personal organization,
d. Attendance and punctuality.
C2 - Communication and Attitude - this criterion is evaluated in equal parts:
a. Capacity for teamwork and cooperation;
b. Adaptation to the internship location;
c. Ability to solve new problems.
d. Resilience and tolerance for difficulties.
e. Availability.
C3 - Knowledge/application of acquired knowledge - this criterion is evaluated in equal parts:
a. Critical thinking ability.
b. Understanding of the tasks requested.
c. Application of acquired knowledge.
C4 - Internship-specific competences - this criterion is evaluated in equal parts:
a. Respect and compliance with hygiene and safety standards.
b. Practical learning of methods and good organization.
c. Rigor and dexterity in the execution of the work.
d. Autonomy in the performance of functions.
C5 - Writing of the Internship Report - this criterion is evaluated in equal parts:
a. Quality of structure, language and presentation.
b. Quality of Theoretical Foundations (including citations) - Autonomous research.
c. Objectives and their achievement.
d. Scientific/technical rigor and attention to detail.
e. Critical analysis of results.
f. Structure and organization of the bibliography (mostly scientific literature)
g. Compliance with the deadline for delivery to the supervisor and supervisor.
C6 - Presentation and discussion of the report in this criterion is evaluated in equal parts:
a. Clarity of supporting material.
b. Exposure clarity.
c. Scientific/technical rigor.
d. Safety.
e. Demonstration of knowledge before the jury.
UC with evaluation without final exam (exception regime) as it is a UC that has as a learning objective the development of activities in the work context or training of entrepreneurial initiatives.
