Objetivos

The student should be able to read, interpret and take measurements on topographical plans, to interpret the landforms, interpolate spot heights, determine slopes, profiling, calculating areas and volumes. The student must have notions of Geodesy and Cartography: natural coordinates, geodetic coordinates, methods of coordinate transformation, national cartographic infrastructure, systems of national map projection. The student should know and use the topographic equipment (optical level, theodolite, GNSS equipment), and about the main methods of topographic positioning (levelling and coordinate transportation) should know and prepare a short topographic surveying. The student must know some concepts of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, especially of the remotely piloted aircraft system (RPAS). The student must have knowledge of Geographic Information Systems, namely must know how to manipulate vector and matrix data.

Métodos de ensino e atividades de aprendizagem

After theory concepts the students solve some problems. In addition, there is an individual and a team work completed outside class (execution of a survey). In the classes the student must learn the methodologies of use and calculation to later, individually or in group, apply the concepts in the execution of practical works that consist in the execution of a topographic survey for the elaboration of a topographic map and in a project of Geographic Information System.
Assessment: team work (document + discussion: 50%) + Final Examination (50%), with a minimum result of 9.5 in 20.0.

Fórmula de cálculo da classificação final

For continuous evaluation, the Final Grade (NF) is equal to:
NF = 0.30 x ER + 0.20 x T + 0.30 x TC + 0.20 x TS,

where ER (regular exercises) is the grade for exercises performed in class, T (test) is the grade for the Cartography test, TC (Cartography work) is the grade for the Cartography group work that corresponds to a topographic survey, and TS the GIS project work note.

By exam (E), at any time, the exception regime is applied (100% Exam is not applicable) and the Final Note (NF) is equal to:
NF = 0.50 x E + 0.30 x TC + 0,20 x TS,

where E (Exam) is the exam grade. TC (Cartography work) is the grade of the Cartography group work that corresponds to a topographic survey and TS (GIS project work) is the grade obtained in this work.

During the period when there are no face-to-face classes due to the epidemiological situation caused by the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2

For continuous evaluation, the Final Grade (NF) is equal to:
NF = 0.40 x ER + 0.25 x T + 0.10 x TC + 0.25 x TS

where ER (regular exercises) is the grade for exercises performed in class, T (test) is the grade for the Cartography test, TC (Cartography assignment) is the grade for the Cartography research work, and TS the grade for the Cartography work. GIS project.

By exam (E), at any time, the exception regime is applied (100% Exam is not applicable) and the Final Note (NF) is equal to:
NF = 0.75 x E + 0.25 x TS,

where E (Exam) is the exam grade and TS (GIS project work) is the grade obtained in that work.

Observações

Note 1
In the evaluation components “On-site Participation” corresponds to the “Regular Exercises” (ER) of the formula for the final classification. Fieldwork corresponds to Cartography (TC) and is a group work that corresponds to a topographic survey. The grade of the different members of the group can be different according to the performance obtained in the discussion of the group work. The laboratory work corresponds to a project work in geographic information systems (TS).

Note 2
In the Occupation components, the 15h OT contact is included in “Class attendance”.
