Objetivos

The student should be able to: I. organize foundation and structural projects in any of its developing stage; II. define and combine actions; III. design regular reinforced concrete buildings and retaining walls; IV. design knowledge and skills to use methods of stability analysis to check the safety of geotechnical component of direct foundations; V. design a reinforced concrete project according to Eurocodes

Resultados de aprendizagem e competências

The first chapter aims at defining the scope of the course as well as showing the applicable law. In the second chapter, the students learn basic tools of safety philosophy taking note of the most relevant structural actions. These concepts will be applied in the structural design of the following chapters. The third chapter provides students with the basic skills of structural dynamics and earthquake engineering. With the programmatic content of chapter four students acquire the ability to design structures of buildings, estimating internal forces of relevant structural elements as well as their geometrical lengths. Chapter five provides information and specific methodologies associated the use and design of prefabricated structures. With the syllabus taught at the sixth chapter the students acquire the ability to design spread foundations. With the syllabus taught at the seventh chapter the students acquire the ability to design retaining walls.

Métodos de ensino e atividades de aprendizagem

Set of theoretical-practical classes, using active methodologies of project-based learning, in which the theoretical concepts are learned as the practical work is developed. New concepts are developed by encouraging the student's autonomous work, exposing theoretical scores and demonstrating practical examples, when applicable.

Classes are developed using the PBL methodology - "Project Based Learning". throughout the semester.

Following the epidemiological situation caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, and during the distance teaching period, the following applies:

- Synchronous classes through the ZOOM platform
- Weekly definition of tasks to be performed by individual students and within the practical working group
- distance testing
- oral discussion of the work, carried out through the ZOOM platform

In order to avoid academic fraud, it is defined that: students with a final grade higher than 9.4 will learn the individual oral test

Exame Intercalar:   30% (Assign. 1+Assign. 2)/2 + 70% Exam

For assessment by exam in 1st and 2nd Seasons: students who have not delivered Assignment 1 on the scheduled date during the academic period, will have to request a new Assignment until the last week of classes; students who have delivered Assignment 1 on the scheduled date but have not delivered Assignment 2 in the academic period, will be able to deliver this last Assignment until the Exam date. For Special Season, students must request a new statement in July. Only students who have previously obtained practical work will have access to the Interim Season.

In order to avoid academic fraud, if the tests are carried out remotely due to the epidemiological situation caused by the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, it is defined that: students with a final grade higher than 9.4 will be subjected to individual oral test.

Observações

'- Practical work can only be developed during the academic period
- In the case of group work, the classification given to the different members of the group may be different, depending on the presentation and oral discussion
- If a student does not present himself at the presentation or oral discussion of the work, he will be given a null classification
- In case the final grade is higher than 16 (sixteen values), an Oral Test will be held. In case of no-show, a final classification of 16 (sixteen) values will be assigned.
