Objetivos

1. To know the fundamental physical processes and phenomena and apply 
the laws that allow understanding and solving practical problems in Physics.
2. To apply vector calculus, kinematics, Newton's laws, the principle of work-energy,
conservation of energy, conservation of momentum, statics of particles, fluids,
temperature scales and the amount of heat in the scope of introductory thermodynamics,
notions of electricity and electrical circuits, in solving “day to day” physics problems.

. evaluation of the stability of structures;
. use of hydraulic infrastructure technologies;
. use of earthworks and foundations technology;

Programa

1. Physical quantities, units and measures. Units conversion.

2. Vector calculus.
3. Kinematics. Laws of rectilinear and curvilinear motion. Uniform, uniformly varied
and varied motion. Projectile movement. Tangential and centripetal acceleration. Circular
motion: linear and angular quantities. Relative movement.
5. Dynamics: Newton's Laws. Forces and free-body diagrams. Application of Newton's laws to
rectilinear motion and circular motion.
6. Work and energy. Work of a force. Kinetic energy and potential energy. Principle of work-energy.
Power and efficiency.
Conservation of mechanical energy.
7. Linear impulse and momentum. Conservation of momentum.
8. Particle statics.
9. Fluid statics. Fundamental Law of Hydrostatics. Pascal's Laws, Impulsion and Archimedes' Laws. Fluid kinematics.
10. Thermodynamics. Heat and temperature. Work, heat and internal energy. Introduction to the laws of thermodynamics.
11. Electricity. Electric charges and electric fields. Gauss Law. Electric potential. Capacitors. Current intensity.
Electrical resistance and resistivity. Ohm's Law. Electric circuits.

Obtenção de frequência

Four tests of regular individual exercises online or in person 
and three laboratory reports carried out in a group of 3 elements
(to deliver on moodle).

There are no minimum grades.

Discussion within group works will be carried out, after the delivery of laboratory reports, 
with a weight of 100% and within the scope of fraud mitigation mechanisms and its
consequences, in person or "at a distance" with a camera connected to a digital
platform. Final approval in all epochs requires a minimum mark of 9.5 in 20.

The final classification of the continuous assessment has 50% of the contribution 
of the average of the 3 best Regular Exercises in 4 and 50% of the contribution of
the average of the 2 best Laboratory Works in 3.
