Objetivos

The goal is that the student can use a spreadsheet and can acquire programming skills. At the end of the course the student should be able to:


  • Be able to use a spreadsheet, taking the most out of its many capabilities;

  • Apply abstract programming concepts to a specific programming language;

  • Understand the basics of programming in order to adapt to new programming languages;

  • Develop logic reasoning;

  • Develop team work skills.

Programa

1. Spreadsheet
Formatting, references, filters, pre defined functions, graphs and pivot tables;

2. Introduction to programming
Constants, types of variables, expressions, flux of instructions, decision and cicle instructions, input and output of data, functions;

3. Pseudocode
Structure of na algorithm, variable declaration, input of values, comments, input and output of data, basic structures;

4. Programming
Implementation of simple algoritmhs;

5. Theory of errors
Absolute error, relative error, error propagation.

Métodos de ensino e atividades de aprendizagem

The concepts will be introduced during the theoretical-practical classes, using application examples as much as possible.

The laboratory classes will be dedicated to the resolution of small exercises to put in practice what has been taught.

Fórmula de cálculo da classificação final

Continuous assessment

  • 40% ER + 60% test, where ER corresponds to regular exercises performed during classes (4 ER weight 10% each)

Final assessment

  • 40% T + 60% Exam, where T corresponds to assignments. These works can be replaced by the grades obtained in the corresponding ER.

The 100% assessment regime per exam is not applicable (that is, an exception regime is applied) since, according to the learning objectives and the skills to be acquired, the student must have a strong practical component in the use computer tools and the construction of small programming routines.
