Objetivos

The curriculum unit of Methods and Simulation Tools aims to equip students from introductory knowledge in the areas that permits the analysis of electrical signals and systems. It is intended to introduce concepts and methods in the area of the signal processing and also the application of simulation tools in the analysis of electrical signals and systems.

Resultados de aprendizagem e competências

- Know several signals and their characteristics in the discrete and continuous time domains.
- Know the properties of Linear and Time Invariant Systems (SLIT), their mathematical representation and their behavior.
- Know and how to apply mathematical functions in the representation and analysis of SLIT in the discrete time domain and in the continuous time domain (electrical circuits).
- Know how to mathematically represent signals in their exponential and trignometric form.
- Know how to represent, analyze and simulate electrical systems using the Matlab simulation tool.

Observações Bibliográficas

1. Working Students, Highly Competitive Athletes, Associative Managers and Students under the Law of Religious Freedom must contact the person responsible for the UC, during the first two weeks of classes, to present their relevant specificities, as provided for in the respective legal diplomas.

2. In order to be able to have access to the different evaluation instruments it is required to be enrolled in the discipline;

3. It is required to be registered in the Moodle page of the discipline in order to have access to the available materials and to have access to the various evaluation instruments (summative and formative minitestes and exams);

4. The rules for running testes / exams are available for consultation in the Moodle page of the discipline and its reading is obligatory.

5. Each student must study autonomously 6 (six) hours per week, which must be occupied with the study of the subject taught.

6. It is strictly forbidden to use mobile phones in the classroom.

7. In case of suspicion of fraud, proceed in accordance with Order No. 40/President/2021.

Métodos de ensino e atividades de aprendizagem

Laboratory classes (single component):

Expository method of theoretical subjects with the help of a simulation tool. Solving application problems in which the active participation of students is encourage. Realization of analysis and simulation project using the various concepts acquired.

Fórmula de cálculo da classificação final

The final grade of the course is calculated as follows:

NF = 0,7 x TP + 0,3 x TSA
where:
TP = MAX(T-TP; E-TP)

Legend:
NF - Final Grade
TP - Exam evaluation grade or average rating of Testes
TSA -Evaluation grade of the simulation and analysis work
T-TP – Average rating of Testes
E-TP - Exam evaluation grade

Notes:
(1) All grades are presented with 2 decimal places except the final grade (NF) that is rounded to the unit;

(2) The achievement of a Final Grade greater or equal to 9.50 values (NF> = 9.50 values) allows the student to have approval in the discipline.

(3) The Simulation and Analysis Work must be delivered, without fail, on the date defined in its statement. It is not possible to change it and deliver it at a later date;

(4) The simulation and analysis work must be original and elaborated with the active participation of all the members of the group that the student is part of. The group will consist of a maximum of two students.
