When finnishing this curricular unit the student is excepted to understand the impact of bioengineering in Healt specifically in the radiation and optical fields and tissue regeneration domain.

- Physical and mathematical concepts.
- Introduction to geometrical and molecular optics.
- Molecular optics techniques (absorbancy, scattering and fluorencence).
- Tissue regeneration.
- Electromagnetic radiation and ion beams.
- Biological effects of radiation.
- Internal radiotherapy/braquiotherapy.
- Electrophysiology of the Cardio-vascular system, Electrocardiography and clinical applications ( Arrhythmias, myocardial infarction, etc) .
- Hemodynamic principles.
- Final comments.

This curricular unit involves a theoretical-practical component that follows an expository methodology and the resolution of exercises to support theoretical concepts. In the practical-laboratory component, experimental works are developed that cover the contents of the UC and aim to provide the student with skills in the scope of the "know-how". This UC will be taught in the Distance Learning mode, using specific and already implemented platforms (Microsoft Teams and Moodle).

Obtenção de frequência
The continuous assessment of the UC will be based on a weighted average of laboratory group work (Tr_PL) and a test (T) to be carried out at the end of the UC.

Final grade (continuous evaluation) = 0.5 * Tr_PL + 0.5 * T
The student can also access the exam and the final grade will only be the grade obtained in it.
Final grade (exam) = 1 * Exam grade
