Objetivos
The purpose of the Computer Forensic Curricular Unit is to provide basic skills in the field of Computer Security and Computer Forensics in order for students to know and know how to use techniques and technologies related to the field of Computer Forensics.
Students are expected to understand the basic concepts of Computer Security, acquire knowledge of how to establish security, acquire knowledge of cipher and steganography algorithms, and know how to analyze and manipulate file systems.
Resultados de aprendizagem e competências
The syllabus observes the objectives of the course for the knowledge to be acquired, focusing on teaching the essential basic theoretical concepts of computer security and digital forensics, and applying them to case-studies.
The syllabus seeks to follow a logical and incremental introduction of the key elements that address the new paradigms and demonstrate its importance, allowing to gradually increase the complexity of the computer security study.

Métodos de ensino e atividades de aprendizagem
The predominant methods are:
- Expository, using examples of the theoretical classes. At the beginning of each practical/laboratory assignment there shall be a small lecture of the concepts necessary for its development. Students are then encouraged (with supervision of the teacher) to develop their work, helping them to assimilate the theoretical concepts.
- Active: guide students in the development of an autonomous project in groups of no more than two students, along the course.

The "Avaliação Contínua" requires a minimum attendance of 75% of classes.
Students with the Student Worker status who can not attend in class should indicate it by email to the person in charge of the course as soon as possible. Students with the status of Student Worker have access to "Avaliação Contínua" without attendance in class (except at mandatory assessment times). The deliveries of the various works are carried out by Moodle and the deadlines for delivery are the same for all students.
The Curricular Unit has several assessment moments (the presentation of Practical Assignment 1, the presentation and oral discussion of Practical Assignment 2, quiz, seminar and workshop and two Tests) mandatory on-site. There is a face-to-face evaluation (that can not be done online), which is optional, that consists of a team competition in order to obtain bonus values to add to the Test 1 grade. There may be a workshop and/or seminar whose performance and/or attendance may count towards the grade, substituting a quiz.
The lack of any of the above moments of evaluation implies the zero mark in the element to be evaluated.
In Distance Learning, attendance is controlled through a survey of students, in Moodle, available in each class.
To approve the Course, the students must obtain:
- More than 7.0 points out of 20.0 in the Practical Component Grade
- More than 9.5 points out of 20.0 in the Final Grade.
Fórmula de cálculo da classificação final
Final Grade = 50% [CT] + 50% [CP] ≥ 9.5 points out of 20.0 points
[CT] = (50% [T1] + 50% ([T2]+[Q])) ou 100% [E]
[CP] = 20% [TP1-Parte 1] + 20% [TP1-Parte 2] + 10% [TP1-Parte 3] + 50% [TP2] ≥ 7.0 points out of 20.0 points
Where:
[CT] = Theoretical Component Grade
[T1] = Test 1 grade
[T2] = Test 2 grade
[Q] = Quiz grade
[E] = Exam Grade (Época Normal ou Época de Recurso ou Época Especial)
[CP] = Practical Component Grade
[TP1-Part 1] = Grade of Part 1 of Practical Assignment 1
[TP1-Part 2] = Grade of Part 2 of Practical Assignment 1
[TP1-Part 3] = Grade of Part 3 of Practical Assignment 1
[TP2] = Grade of Practical Assignment 2
