Objetivos
The fundamental objective of the Computer Networks Course Unit is to provide Students with basic knowledge in the area of Computer Networks. The aspects dealt with include the theoretical foundations, and the project, installation and maintenance of Local Computer Networks. In a final phase, aspects to increase network security are addressed.
Resultados de aprendizagem e competências
The professional profile of CTeSP in RSI refers to 5 main activities for these technicians. This UC intends to transmit basic knowledge for some of these activities, namely:
A1 - Design, coordinate and implement computer network infrastructures.
A2 - Coordinate, install and maintain active and passive computer network equipment.
A3 - Coordinate, install and maintain network servers.
A4 - Manage computer network security mechanisms.
In this way, it is intended to contribute to the knowledge and skills defined for the CTeSP RSI, namely:
C1 - Specialized knowledge about the operation of computer networks.
C2 - Specialized knowledge of active equipment used in computer networks.
C3 - Specialized knowledge of passive equipment used in computer networks.
C4 - Specialized knowledge of computer network design and installation standards and rules.
C7 - Specialized knowledge of Computer Network monitoring tools.
C8 - Specialized knowledge of computer network security.
A1- Design and interpret the physical and logical topology of a computer network.
A2- Specify the network's active and passive equipment according to the company's needs.
A3- Define the operating mode of the active equipment on the network and coordinate its configuration.
A4- Organize the installation and maintenance of network services and servers.
A5- Organize the installation and maintenance of network and information security tools.
A6- Assess and propose technical solutions to network operation problems and associated services
A7- Schedule and prepare the work of maintenance and repair teams.
A8- Interpret and design technical documentation.
A9- Propose and develop network policies.

Métodos de ensino e atividades de aprendizagem
There are two types of classes: Theoretical-Practical classes (TP) and laboratory classes (L).
TPs - In these classes through slides the subjects are exposed.
L - In these classes, through the use of guides, students carry out work where the concepts presented in the TPs are demonstrated. Network equipment is configured 1st through the use of a simulator and then through the use of real equipment.
