Objetivos
Specify static characteristics of transducers and understand the fundamentals that support their operation, namely, transducers based on magnetic and optical effects. Describe the role of transducers in the modernization of measurement systems for applications in process automation.

- Metrology; Units of measurement; Significant algharisms; International Metrology Vocabulary; The function of the metrology laboratory in industry. Calibration procedures for measuring instruments.
- Measurement errors and uncertainty; errors in measurement; specification of measuring instruments; concept of uncertainty; statistical methods in measurement.
- Calibration and calculation of uncertainty in direct measurement
- Physical principles in measurement: concept of transducer; homogeneous magnetic circuit; Hall effect; Inductive and Capacitive Transducers
- Physical principles in dimensional measurements: dimensional measurements; electromagnetic radiation, wave theory; optical systems;
- Concepts of geometric optics, configuration of optical systems for measurements.
