Objetivos
This curricular unit contributes to the acquisition of competences in the analysis of circuits and telecommunications systems, knowledge and explanation of the theory associated to the electric and magnetic fields, the design, implementation and maintenance of communication systems involving different means of transmission and explanation of the operating principles of circuits present in telecommunications systems used in Electric Power Networks.
This Course also allows developing skills in the knowledge of basic concepts of wireless communication networks and Fiber Optics.
Resultados de aprendizagem e competências
This Curricular Unit addresses key issues related to Telecommunications in Electric Power systems giving the student a solid framework for the analysis of such systems, namely in what is related to the:
- ability of analysis of circuits and telecommunications systems;
- knowledge and explanation of the theory associated to the electric and magnetic fields;
- knowledge of basic concepts of wireless communication networks and Fiber Optics;
- design, implementation and maintenance of communication systems involving different means of transmission and explanation of the operating principles of circuits present in telecommunications systems used in Electric Power Networks.

Métodos de ensino e atividades de aprendizagem
The classes consist of a theoretical explanation of the main theoretical concepts, together with the study and discussion of real-life cases, and resolution of written exercises. Additionnaly, the students will elaborate a report about a subject in this area of study and will present and discuss it with the whole class.

Test (2) or Exam, TE
Minimum grade in each Test is 6.0 values.
Minimum grade in the average of both tests is 8.0 values.
Written report with oral presentation, TP.
Minimum grade in the written report with oral presentation is 9.5 values.
Fórmula de cálculo da classificação final
The final grade, CF, is obtained as follows:
CF = 60% x TE + 40% x TP
where, TP, is evaluated as:
TP = 50% x TRAB + 50% x AP_DIS
where TRAB e AP_DIS correspond to the grades of the written report and its presentation, respectively.
A minimmum CF grade of 9.5 is required for the student to get approved .
