Objetivos

This Curricular Unit, the successor of the Computer Networks Curricular Unit, has the fundamental objective of providing students with knowledge for the design, specification, implementation and maintenance of Business Computer Networks.

At the beginning, the routing equipment and the protocols associated with its operation are studied. Next, advanced aspects of the configuration of local networks and network services are studied. Finally, emerging protocols in networks are studied, such as Voice over IP Systems (VoiP) and Gateway Redundancy Protocols.

Resultados de aprendizagem e competências

At the end of this Curricular Unit, the student should be able to:

1. Perform the basic configuration and the routing protocol of a router.
2. Configure Virtual Local Area Networks (VLAN) on a switch.
3. Configure a router to perform Inter-VLAN Routing.
4. Configure the Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) and the Link Aggregation Protocol on a switch.
5. Design and program Access Control Lists (ACLs) on a router.
6. Configure DHCP and NAT/PAT services on a router.
7. Configure VoIP Phones on Local Network.
8. Configure Gateway Redundancy Protocols.

Métodos de ensino e atividades de aprendizagem

Theoretical-practical classes with exposition of the subject and resolution of exercises that aim to consolidation of acquired knowledge.

Laboratory classes, where practical works and projects are carried out that allow an experimentation of the subjects taught in the theoretical classes.

Tipo de avaliação

Distributed evaluation without final exam

Componentes de Avaliação

Obtenção de frequência

The minimum grade in the Theoretical Exam or in the Average of 2 Tests is 8 (eight) values.

The minimum grade in the Reports of Practical Laboratory Activities and in the Project of a Business Computer Network is 9.5 (nine point five) values.

The grade for the Practical Laboratory Activities Reports is calculated as the average of the 7 best grades out of a total of 8 laboratory assignments.

The delivery of the reports of the Practical Laboratory Activities must be carried out within 15 days after the conclusion of the work class.

The delay in the delivery of the Practical Laboratory Activities Reports and in the Project of a Business Computer Network, implies a penalty of 0.5 values per day of delay, up to a maximum of 15 days.

Fórmula de cálculo da classificação final

Final Grade =
40% Theoretical Exam or Average of 2 Tests +
30% Reports of Practical Laboratory Activities +
30% Project of a Business Computer Network
