- Understand the various phases of design process;
- Design and verify simple components to static loading;
- Design and verify simple components for fatigue.

Planning, Intervention, Quality and Guaranties Management

TGA09 - ECTS The course unit Planning, Intervention, Quality and Warranty Management aims to characterize the automotive market in Portugal, present trends in the after-sales market and familiarize yourself with the software used in car dealerships and repair shops. The contents are organized in such a way as to allow the student to:
- Plan, monitor, evaluate, and redefine activities and resources in automotive marketing and maintenance;
- Ensure Quality and Guarantee Management.

Workshop Management

TGA17 - ECTS
  • Know the main financial documents of a company
  • Know how to calculate the cost of production of a product/service
  • Know the main techniques of relationship marketing

Vehicle Maintenance

TGA16 - ECTS

In this engineering discipline, it is intended that students acquire the theoretical and practical knowledge that ensures and enable students to understand, frame and apply the fundamental techniques for the management, definition and execution of maintenance activities. In order to achieve this objective, students will initially have an awareness of the definition and evolution of the maintenance function. Then there will be a framework on the most relevant aspects of the maintenance function in the organization and management of the maintenance of a company and identification of the various types of failure and define maintenance strategies and the appropriate work for each case. Another point corresponds to the training to organize maintenance activities in an average company as well as to properly articulate the maintenance function with the overall management objectives of the company. Know how to analyse breakdowns of the most common equipment and calculate the reliability and availability of a system. It is also intended that students acquire the necessary skills to know and possess the ability to understand the new philosophies of maintenance.

Combustion Engines

TGA13 - ECTS This course aims to equip students with theoretical and practical knowledge based on the operation, constitution and repair of Internal Combustion Engines (MCI) and their different organs and systems, through the knowledge transmitted and direct contact with the equipment and parts that make up, as well as through researching information in the literature and the Internet.

Sensors and Actuators for Vehicles

TGA15 - ECTS •Describe measurement characteristics in terms of accuracy and uncertainty of sensors and actuators.
•Specify and design functional modules for measuring non-electrical quantities electrically. Dimensioning devices for converting electrical signals into standardized values.
•Know and characterize different sensors used in the car to measure different variables.
•Based on the transducers studied, know and characterize different actuators used in the car to change the parameters of the variables.
•Know and describe the main means of transmitting signals in the car.
•Understand and build in blocks a measurement chain established between sensor and actuator elements.

Quality, Environment and Safety Systems

TGA18 - ECTS Integrate fundamental concepts of quality, environment and safety.
Develop and implement the necessary requirements for quality, environment and safety management systems. Develop plans, procedures and documentation regarding the systems.
Develop and implement quality management systems.
Integrate occupational safety and health and environmental management systems with quality management systems. Conduct environmental and safety quality audits.
Assume continuous improvement as an element of organizational development. Create a favorable climate for the internalization of improvement in organizations.
Understand the methodologies used in certification processes.

Automobile Mechanical Systems

TGA14 - ECTS

Understand and explain the influence of different constructive solutions used in the steering, suspension, braking and transmission subsystems on the dynamic behavior of the car.

Traineeship
