Technical English

ARCI06 - ECTS

General objective

The objective is to develop students’ knowledge of English in several areas, such as reading comprehension, writing, correct use of technical terms, grammar, fluency and personal interaction. Students will be acquainted with concepts and procedures used in the workplace, and will be able to apply technical language to specific contexts.

Introduction to Automation, Robotics and Industrial Control

ARCI01 - ECTS It is intended to provide the student with an overview of the specialization areas of the TeSP Course in automation, robotics and industrial control, with the aim of developing, in students, scientific-mathematical reasoning skills and the ability to be open to the application of these concepts in the formulation and rigorous resolution of problems in the various subareas of the course.

Transducers

ARCI04 - ECTS
Upon successful completion of the Transducers course, students should understand the function of a transducer as a constituent element of an instrument for measuring physical quantities, namely position and deformation.

Mathematical Applications A

ARCI21 - ECTS To provide students with the basic mathematical knowledge of Linear Algebra and Statistics necessary for performing tasks and as the foundation for the ongoing education of a professional higher technician.

Automation II

ARCI07 - ECTS

Instrumentation

ARCI08 - ECTS Provide students with skills to:
1) have general knowledge of physics directly involved in the principles and techniques of instrumentation
2) have basic knowledge of metrology, namely the concepts of accuracy, sensitivity, resolution and uncertainty, and their application in the areas of instrumentation and measurement;
3) understand the operating principles of analogue and digital measuring instruments, as well as identify the main characteristics and limitations of the measurement;
4) know the principle of operation of measurement transducers and be able to design circuits for measuring industrial quantities.

Machinery and Industrial Electronics

ARCI12 - ECTS The aim of this course unit is that students are able to understand the basic principles of operation of the main electrical machines used in electromechanical drives in an industrial environment, as well as the electronic power converters used to control electrical machines.

General Mechanics

ARCI09 - ECTS To transmit knowledge about the fundamental laws of Newtonian Mechanics, and their application to problems relevant to the course's knowledge area.

Industrial Maintenance Organization

ARCI10 - ECTS Convey concepts about Maintenance, maintenance management and maintenance techniques

Complements of Instrumentation

ARCI16 - ECTS Learning and developing skills in the following fields of industrial instrumentation:
1. Principles of measuring temperature, level and flow. Applications of these measurement principles in the industrial area and identification of the advantages and disadvantages of different measurement solutions;
2. Principles of operation of the main types of control valves and positioners: their characteristics, dimensioning and selection according to the applications.

Industrial Control and Supervision

ARCI13 - ECTS

Company Management and Organizational Behaviour

ARCI17 - ECTS

Students should develop skills in the field of business management, organizational behaviour, leadership, and team management.

Industrial Electrical Facilities

ARCI18 - ECTS It is intended with this course unit that the student has knowledge of standards, regulations and techniques for carrying out projects of low voltage electrical installations and the ability to dimension and implement small-scale electrical installations for industrial applications.

Electrical Measurements

ARCI14 - ECTS Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:
1) To know the principles and procedures of measurement of the main electrical quantities (voltage, current, resistance, power and energy);
2) Understand the principle of operation of the main instruments of measurement of electrical quantities (analog and digital multimeters, analog and digital oscilloscopes, wattmeters and energy meters);
3) Connect and correctly operate the main measuring instruments of electrical quantities.

Industrial Robotics

ARCI15 - ECTS

Know the structures of robots, their components as well as some types of industrial robots and their applications.
Have skills in programming and robot integration. Have skills in robot communication with some robotic cell interfaces.
Know the safety principles in the use of industrial robots.

Traineeship

ARCI19 - ECTS
  1. Promote the enrichment of the professional and practical application component in the workplace of the skills developed in the CTeSP in Robotic Automation and Industrial Control.
