Objetivos

Currently, companies and institutions have computer networks permanently connected to the internet. Ensuring the integrity, confidentiality and availability of data and its routing on the network is a daily task for IT managers and technicians.

In this subject, various security aspects that must be addressed in the design, implementation and maintenance of the IT infrastructure are addressed. Practical mechanisms for real-time monitoring of the operation of computer networks are also studied.

Resultados de aprendizagem e competências

At the end of this subject the student should be able to configure in a computer network:

  • The NTP and Syslog Protocols
  • The firewall
  • A Centralized Authentication of Network Access
  • A Network Intrusion Prevention Systems
  • An Access via Virtual Private Network (VPN) and Secure-Shell (SSH)
  • The Security Mechanisms on Access Switches

Métodos de ensino e atividades de aprendizagem

Theoretical-practical classes with exposure of the subject and resolution of exercises aimed at consolidating the acquired knowledge.

Laboratory classes, where practical work is carried out that allow experimentation of the subjects taught in theoretical classes.

Tipo de avaliação

Distributed evaluation without final exam

Componentes de Avaliação

Designation Peso (%)
Teste 40,00
Trabalho escrito 25,00
Trabalho laboratorial 35,00
Total: 100,00

Componentes de Ocupação

Designation Tempo (Horas)
Elaboração de projeto 30,00
Estudo autónomo 42,00
Frequência das aulas 30,00
Trabalho escrito 30,00
Trabalho laboratorial 30,00
Total: 162,00

Obtenção de frequência

The minimum grade in the Average of Theoretical Tests and Final Exam is 8 (eight) values.

The minimum grade in the Average of the Laboratory Reports and in the Design of a Safe Network is 9.5 (nine point five) values. You may not deliver just one report, under penalty of failure in the laboratory component.

The delivery of Laboratory Reports must be made within 15 days after the work completion class. The delay in delivering Laboratory Reports and in the Design of a Safe Network implies a penalty of 0.5 Values per day of delay, up to a maximum of 15 days.

Fórmula de cálculo da classificação final

The final grade will be obtained based on the formula:

𝐹𝑖𝑛𝑎𝑙 Grade = 40% Average of Theoretical Tests or Final Exam +
35% Average of Laboratory Reports +
25% Project of a Secure Computer Network
