Objetivos

Provide students with an experience in a work context with the following objectives:

• Confront students with engineering problems identical to those they will face in their professional activity;
• Stimulating their ability to analyze and synthesize, allowing them to integrate the technical and scientific knowledge acquired in the various areas developed in the course;
• Appeal to the skills of written and oral expression through reports and presentation of works;
• Develop critical thinking and strengthen your self-confidence, autonomy and organization at work.

Resultados de aprendizagem e competências

At the end of the UC, the student must:
- Integrate into a real work environment;
- Interact with other people in a real work environment;
- Demonstrate autonomy in solving real problems and ability to solve concrete or new problems, based on knowledge acquired during the course;
- To be able to prepare a report, describing activities carried out and correlating with learning acquired throughout the course or demonstrate research and analysis capacity to solve new problems;
- Demonstrate communication and interpersonal skills;
- Effectively communicate the results and conclusions of the work carried out to third parties.

Programa

The student can choose one of two ways:

Project - Development of a complex engineering project that corresponds to the resolution of a problem concrete, in the form of a “finished product”. The project development takes into account the planning, realization and testing phases, based on the documentation produced during problem specification.

Internship - Carry out a curricular internship in a company in the area related to the course.

Métodos de ensino e atividades de aprendizagem

The monitoring and control of on-the-job training is carried out through periodic meetings between the student, the teacher appointed by the School and the supervisor appointed by the company where the internship takes place.

Obtenção de frequência

The conclusion of the internship implies the presentation of a final report written by the student and its defense in public session, resulting in the final evaluation of the jury.

Fórmula de cálculo da classificação final

Final grade = 0.2AP + 0.3Rel + 0.5TD

AP - public defense note of project or internship report
Rel - project or internship report note
TD - grade of work developed in the project or internship

NOTE: Partial marks will be awarded by each member of the jury nominated for the public defense of the report.

Observações

The deadline for public defense of the Internship/Project Report for the 2022/2023 academic year will be until December 20, 2023
