Objetivos

- Knowledge of physical concepts and materials.
- Interpret the action of electric and magnetic fields.
- Provide methods of analysis of electrical circuits in direct current and in alternating current.

Resultados de aprendizagem e competências

At the end of the UC, the student should be able to:
- Understand and explain the principles that support electrostatic phenomena.
- Identify the electrical quantities and properties of electrical current. Identify electrical components and apply DC circuit analysis techniques.
- Understand and explain the fundamentals of magnetostatics and electromagnetism.
- Analyze AC circuits in steady state.
- Perform laboratory procedures and practices that allow validating and consolidating theoretical knowledge.

Métodos de ensino e atividades de aprendizagem

The teaching of this course is divided into two kinds of classes: theoretical-practical and practical (laboratorial).

Theoretica l- practical classes:
- Exposition of theoretical subjects, performed with the combination of the expository method and the interpretive method, appealing to the students' participation. Solving application problems in which the active participation of students is promoted.

Laboratory classes:
- The participatory method is followed, although other active methods are also used, depending on the situation. Carrying out laboratory works with the support of specific guides.

Tipo de avaliação

Distributed evaluation with final exam

Componentes de Avaliação

Designation Peso (%)
Exame 70,00
Trabalho laboratorial 30,00
Total: 100,00

Componentes de Ocupação

Designation Tempo (Horas)
Elaboração de relatório/dissertação/tese 30,00
Estudo autónomo 70,00
Frequência das aulas 30,00
Trabalho laboratorial 30,00
Total: 160,00

Obtenção de frequência

The final classification (NF) will be obtained as follows:
- Classification of laboratories (NL), calculated based on the performance of the laboartory work  and respective reports, equal to or greater than 9.5 values.
- Classification of the final exam (NE) equal or to greater than 9,5 values.
- In case of continuous evaluation, the classification (NT) is obtained by the average of the tests with minimum grade is 7 values.

The final classification will be calculated by:
NF = 0.7 * NE + 0.3 * NL
or
NF = 0.7 * ((NT1 + NT2) / 2) + 0.3 * NL

Fórmula de cálculo da classificação final

The final classification will be calculated by:

NF = 0.7 * NE + 0.3 * NL
or
NF = 0.7 * ((NT1 + NT2) / 2) + 0.3 * NL
