Objetivos
It this Curricular Unit are presented the operation principles of various electromechanical equipment.

At the end of this Curricular Unit, the students must be able to:
- Participate in supervising the operating conditions of this equipment;
- Identify and characterize the most frequent breakdowns in these equipments;
- Recognize the main characteristics associated with the assembly, conduction and maintenance of equipment;
- Identify safety conditions associated with the equipment.

1. Introduction
2. Fans and compressors. Types of fans. Introduction to compressed air, air compression. Types of compressors and working principle of each type. Reciprocating compressors and rotary compressors. Compressor accessories. Fields of application of different types of compressors
3. Turbines: Main characteristics of turbines. Action and reaction turbines. Study of the fluid flow inside the turbine. Assembly and lubrication care.
4. Bombs: Classification of bombs. Study of linear motion and rotary motion pumps. Pump drive types. Fields of application of different types of pumps
5. Engines: Generalities about engines. Internal combustion engines. Electric, pneumatic and hydraulic motors. Study of engine control mechanisms. Lubrication associated with engines
6. Boilers: Classification of boilers. Studies of the main components of boilers. Fuel, steam, feed water and combustion air systems. Boiler control and safety mechanisms
7. Couplings and clutches
8. Safety. Machinery Directive
