Fundamentals of Organic Chemistry

TLQE012 - ECTS It is intended in this CU that students know the formulas, structures, nomenclature and physicochemical/reactivity properties of the main families of organic compounds; recognize the importance, in a given molecule, of the role of functional groups and how the distribution of electrons can intervene in organic reactions. The student should also be able to: predict the mechanism and classify the reactions of organic compounds and acquire the concept of spacial geometry of molecules associated with the study of stereochemistry.

Methods of Water Analysis

TLQE010 - ECTS

Applied Chemistry

TLQE011 - ECTS

Biochemistry and Biochemical Analysis

TLQE015 - ECTS
At the end of the curricular unit (UC) the student is expected to have theoretical knowledge about:
- the structure and organization of the different cellular constituents in the different types of cells;
- the function and structure of the most important biomolecules, namely, nucleic acids (RNA, DNA), carbohydrates, lipids and proteins;
- enzymatic kinetics and enzymatic assays.

They must also have theoretical knowledge and be able to apply them in a laboratory context, such as: in the preparation of typical buffer solutions for biochemical assays; in the performance of biomolecule purification techniques, namely, chromatographic and ultrafiltration techniques; determination of biomolecules (carbohydrates, proteins, nucleic acids), mastering colorimetric methods and spectrophotometric analyses; performing analytical techniques for separating proteins (acrylamide gel electrophoresis), and applying methods of analysis and determination based on in direct and indirect enzymatic assays.

Physics

TLQE014 - ECTS

Instrumental Methods of Analysis C

TLQE016 - ECTS At the end of this CU, the student must:
- Plan and carry out advanced laboratory techniques.
- Understand and use quality control in the results of analytical measurements.
- Know the instrumentation, the physical-chemical principle of each analytical method, and its advantages and disadvantages.
- Apply calibration methods.
- Interpret the results of analytical chemistry and acquire critical skills and integration of knowledge in laboratory work.
