QAA04 - ECTS To make known the main classes of molecules, their characteristics and properties with the purpose of demonstrating their interest and applicability in the food area.

Elements of Mathematics I

QAA01 - ECTS The general objective of this course unit is to provide students with the basic mathematical knowledge required in the professional training of a top professional technician.

Technical English

QAA02 - ECTS The objective is to develop students’ knowledge of English in several areas, such as reading comprehension, writing, correct use of technical terms, grammar, fluency and personal interaction. Students will be acquainted with concepts and procedures used in the workplace, and will be able to apply technical language to specific contexts.

Environmental and Food Microbiology

QAA05 - ECTS
-Acquire general concepts of the microbial world. Microbial characteristics, activity and interactions between microorganisms, relationship with other living beings and the environment.
-Knowledge of cultivation and identification techniques in Microbiology.
-Understand the importance of microorganisms in the biosphere and their role in the transformation of matter and the balance of ecosystems.
-Recognize the importance of microbial ecology.
-Recognize microorganisms as agents in water and waste treatment processes and as bioremediation agents.
-Recognize microorganisms as indicators of microbiological quality in different media (water, air and soil) and respective methodologies.
-Use techniques to determine microbiological parameters in water for human consumption and assess legal compliance, understanding the implications for the management of treatment systems.
-Identify microorganisms as vehicles for disease transmission (water, air, soil, food).
-Recognize the role of microorganisms and their usefulness in the food industry.
-Recognize microorganisms as indicators of the microbiological quality of food and respective methodologies.
-Use techniques to determine microbiological parameters in food and assess compliance with food safety standards.
-Knowledge of microbial bioassays. Toxicity and mutagenicity.
-Use biosecurity techniques in laboratories.
-Know, understand, research and know how to apply environmental and food legislation, related to biological agents.

Chemistry A

QAA03 - ECTS General objectives:

-Give the student an overview of the fundamentals of Chemistry in the context of their basic training;
-Give the student the essential foundations for understanding the analytical methods applied to the Environment;
-Lead the student to understand the relevance of Chemistry in natural systems and environmental technologies.

Environment Technologies I

QAA06 - ECTS The objective of this curricular unit is to learn about environmental technologies and procedures in the area of waste management and ambient air quality management.

Food and Environmental Analyses I

QAA08 - ECTS Acquisition of knowledge and development of skills and competences for classic analysis to water and food and their interpretation of results according to applicable normatives or standards.

Accreditation and Certification

QAA11 - ECTS Know the knowledge necessary to participate in the implementation and management of management systems in laboratories and organizations.
Integrate fundamental concepts of Quality, Environment and Safety.

QAA07 - ECTS Provide students with the basic mathematical knowledge necessary in the professional training of a professional superior technician.

Environment Technologies II

QAA09 - ECTS Objectives

- To know the impact of human activities on the environment;

- To define and implement consumption reduction and prevention of water and soil control.

- To know the main processes and unit operations samples for the treatment of water and wastewater;

- To know and understand the functioning of water and wastewater treatment systems, to act in their monitoring and control.

- To know, understand, study and apply the legislation.

Food Processing and Conservation Technologies

QAA10 - ECTS

To know about the food processing, conservation technologies and equipment used in the different food sectors to guarantee the quality and safety of the food product in the production process.

Noise Analysis

QAA16 - ECTS The Curricular Unit of Noise Analysis is a specific subject in the field of engineering sciences. Learning the underlying physical methods and concepts aims to develop in students fundamental skills that allow them to understand the sound phenomena (including mechanical vibrations) responsible for sound emissions. On the other hand, also understand the main techniques of recording and sound analysis in order to quantify and control environmental and industrial noise.

Food and Environmental Analyses II

QAA14 - ECTS Acquisition of knowledge and development of capacities and competencies for the evaluation of pollutant load in wastewater and use of instrumental methods of analysis for the determination of food and environmental additives and contaminants.

Environmental Management

QAA15 - ECTS - Know different strategies of organizations for the environment.

- Know how to apply methodologies and environmental management tools in organizations

- Know the fundamentals and main lines of application of the tools to support the environmental management of products

- Plan continuous improvement: audits, environmental awareness, training, improvement actions

Business Management and Organisational Behaviour

QAA12 - ECTS

Students should develop skills in the field of business management, organizational behaviour, leadership, and team management.

Internship

QAA17 - ECTS The internship aims to reinforce the professional nature of the course. It aims to provide the student with the possibility of applying, in a real work context, the theoretical and practical knowledge acquired, through the analysis and proposal to solve concrete problems of the company. It is an appreciation of "know-how", adaptability to new situations, capacity for initiative and interaction with work teams in the company.
