Objetivos
The main objective of this UC is to develop the student’s interest in the study of fluid mechanics, in order to know the main subjects of statics, kinematic and dynamics of fluids to solve the most common problems that arise in engineering.
Resultados de aprendizagem e competências
At the end of the course, students should be able to:- Determine the force and respective point of application on a flat submerged surface;
- Determine the pressure read by any liquid column manometer;
- Draw the free-body diagram of submerged or floating objects and determine the forces involved;
- Identify and characterize the flow regime; calculate the pressure losses that occur in the flows inside the ducts; determine the curves of the facilities;
- Characterize the type of turbomachine according to the flow inside it; interpret its characteristic curves; determine operating points; select powered machines; Evaluate the possibility of cavitation arising in pumps; Determine the pump association curve.

Obtenção de frequência
- The average rating of the laboratories must be equal to or greater than 9.5V.
- The exam rating must be equal to or greater than 9.5V.
Fórmula de cálculo da classificação final
Final evaluation:- Final exam (70%) - Minimum grade of 9.5V
- Laboratory work (30%) - Minimum grade for each laboratory: 9.5V
FG=0.70xMTG+0.30xMLG
Melhoria de classificação
The classification improvement will be performed by exam only, with access to the exam according to the rules defined in the RAA-IPS.
Observações
- Students who do not have all the reports approved during the continuous assessment period have the possibility to deliver the reports not accepted until the date of the exams;
- The weekly time for answering doubts/questions will be published on the UC page in Moodle.dle.
- Students who obtain a final grade greater than or equal to 16 values must perform a oral verification, otherwise the grade will be 14 values.
>> In written evaluations only non-programmable scientific calculator can be used and will have restricted appointments – Formulas sheet provided.
