In this engineering discipline, it is intended that students acquire the theoretical and practical knowledge that ensures and enable students to understand, frame and apply the fundamental techniques for the management, definition and execution of maintenance activities. In order to achieve this objective, students will initially have an awareness of the definition and evolution of the maintenance function. Then there will be a framework on the most relevant aspects of the maintenance function in the organization and management of the maintenance of a company and identification of the various types of failure and define maintenance strategies and the appropriate work for each case. Another point corresponds to the training to organize maintenance activities in an average company as well as to properly articulate the maintenance function with the overall management objectives of the company. Know how to analyse breakdowns of the most common equipment and calculate the reliability and availability of a system. It is also intended that students acquire the necessary skills to know and possess the ability to understand the new philosophies of maintenance.
