Mathematical Methods II

TGI06 - ECTS The general objective of this course unit is to provide students with the mathematical knowledge about differential calculus and integral calculus.

TGI08 - ECTS Business English aims at familiarizing the students with the English language in the context of business and management.

Some specific objects are:
- improve students’ competences in the following fields: reading, writing, listening and communication;
- critical analysis (of written documents);
- acquisition of vocabulary in the business area;
- develop other soft skills and students’ confidence and autonomy both in academic and professional terms.

Introduction to Computer Programming

TGI09 - ECTS Learning the elementary concepts of computer operation, algorithms, modularity and introduction to programming using the C language.

General objectives

  1. To know how to define technological process
  2. To know how to establish the difference between process and unit operation
  3. To know how to create and to represent the processes in block, flowsheet and P&ID diagrams

  1. To know how to analyse a technological process using mass and energy balances
  2. To know about the importance of reusing materials and raw materials to minimize solid and liquid waste to avoid environmental impacts

Industrial Drawing

TGI11 - ECTS - know how to read and interpret technical drawings;
- ability to perform technical drawings of isolated parts and small assemblies by the method of orthogonal projections and quick perspectives;
- Know the main standards of technical drawing;
- know how to represent parts using computer aided drawing tool.

TGI12 - ECTS

 Understand the concept of Marketing as a set of functions that include market analysis, consumer behavior and the planning and execution process of product, price, distribution and promotion of goods and services policies, which create exchanges with value for the organization and customers.

Principles of Corporate Finance

TGI10 - ECTS • Know the main concepts of business finance.
• Analyse, understand and record the impacts of financial operations on the equity situation.
• Prepare information for the preparation of financial reporting documents.

TGI13 - ECTS
  1. Provide students with the fundamental concepts of Cost Analysis;
  2. To make known the main mechanisms for processing financial information from an internal perspective, namely with regard to costing and budget management systems;
  3. Provide students with a critical spirit that allows them to understand the advantages and limitations of financial information systems in supporting decision-making.

TGI14 - ECTS The curricular unit contents are structured, regarding its suitability for the intended learning outcomes.
Therefore, each subject approaches fundamentals concepts and practical applications by solving problems using the basic tools of Statistics to enable students to analyze certain phenomena of random nature, framed in the context of technology.

TGI15 - ECTS In the specific context of the current economy, the aim is to provide students with a global view of the Logistics function and Supply Chain Management.

Economy and Environment

TGI17 - ECTS Understand environmental problems as economic problems.
Assess the impact of different environmental policy instruments on productive activity and on the environment.
Choose the most effective economic instruments to control pollution and encourage “greener” behavior in production and consumption.
Interpret energy usage indicators.
Understand the economic value of biodiversity. Understand the need for Ecological Economy as an efficient way of production and consumption.

Elements of Operational Research

TGI18 - ECTS This curricular unit (CU) aims to present a first reference to the modeling of real problems of Operational Research, as well as to provide information about some of the techniques used in solving those problems.
