  5. Interpretation of the geometric shape of a land based on a topographic representation.
  6. Evaluation of distances, areas and volumes of a terrain, based on cartography.
  7. Performing topographic surveys with leveling equipment and total stations and corresponding graphic representation of the terrain.
.

Communication and Presentation Techniques

CC003 - ECTS
  1. Develop effective oral/written communication skills.
  2. Develop skills in structuring and presenting an oral presentation.
  3. Develop report structuring and presentation skills.
  4. Develop the ability to work in groups.

Construction Technology I

CC006 - ECTS This curricular unit intends to pass on knowledge on construction processes and common structuralsolutions in buildings.

Physics

CC007 - ECTS
1. To know the fundamental physical processes and phenomena and apply
the laws that allow understanding and solving practical problems in Physics. 2. To apply vector calculus, kinematics, Newton's laws, the principle of work-energy,
conservation of energy, conservation of momentum, statics of particles, fluids,
temperature scales and the amount of heat in the scope of introductory thermodynamics,
notions of electricity and electrical circuits, in solving “day to day” physics problems.

Introduction to Economic and Business Sciences

CC008 - ECTS
  1. To Provide the basic concepts of micro-economic analysis defined as a study of the behaviour logic of individual economic agents(families and companies) and the markets where they operate with regard to the production, consumption and exchange of goods and services;
  2. To Understand and interpret the behaviours that determine the demand and supply of goods, the allocation of productive resourcesthrough the market system, the determination of individual income and the profitability of companies;
  3. Identify and understand the basic models of the market structure and how companies behave in these different structures;
  4.  Identify, understand the importance and relate the different functions of business management, including planning, organisation, management and control;
  5. Generally, understand the measures of the country's economic activity.

Measurements and Budgets

CC009 - ECTS
1. Recognize the importance of measurement activity within the global context of the activities of the
construction process.
2. Identify the fundamental parts for measurement activity.
3. Identify the different methods for the selection and efficient use of construction equipment.
4. Analyze and perform the measurement of the different components related to the design of buildings and civil Engineering.
5. Understand and clearly identify the direct and indirect costs incurred on the construction projects.
6. Understand the procedures for the preparation of measurement reports.

Concept of Law and Public Procurement

CC012 - ECTS

The curricular unit is intended to provide the acquisition of knowledge about law and public procurement.

Construction Technology II

CC010 - ECTS

The curricular unit Construction Technology II appears in the continuity of the curricular unit of Technology of Construction I.

Thermal and Acoustic Buildings

CC011 - ECTS In the Thermal and Acoustic of Buildings curricular unit, the student should adquire fundamental knowledge related to the construction sciences, namely hygrothermics, acoustics, ventilation and natural lighting.

Budget Management and Control

CC017 - ECTS

The student will learn the concepts and fundamentals of Hydraulics with interest for Civil Construction. Is expected the student to acquire a basic training in solving problems related to budget management and control, namely with regard to the planning and scheduling of works, coordination of construction documentation and respective cost estimates, budgets or work plans, encourage good safety practices on construction sites, coordinate and supervise the execution of construction works, ensuring compliance with deadlines and costs through optimization of resources needed for the work, quality management and reorganization of work in the face of errors, omissions and unforeseen events, coordinate and supervise the work of production teams given the production plan and quality control of the work, manage activities in works of different types from the architectural and specialty projects and control and evaluate the quality of structures, given the quality in execution and structural safety criteria. As a basic science for a construction technician, students should ensure their individual mastery of the subjects taught.

Building Installations

CC013 - ECTS
Students shoul learn theoretical and practical knowledge of water distribution, fire-fighting, sewage and storm drainage networks in buildings. They should also be able to design and scale building networks of water distribution, firefighting with water and sewerage and drainage, as well as some accessory elements associated therewith. Complement the training, usually specific to civil engineering, with a more general view of facilities that are included in buildings and are the object of study of other branches of engineering.

Structural Mechanics and Geotechnics

CC015 - ECTS It is intended that the student learns the following topics:
  • Analyze simple isostatic structures for static actions and calculation of forces and reactions.
  • Differentiation of the different types of structures: articulated structures and reticulated structures.
  • Know the different types of actions and understand the behavior of structures.
  • Focus the most important aspects regarding the execution of concrete and steel structures.
  • Understand the mechanics applicable to soils and the concepts on which it is based.
  • Recognize and deal with problems associated with the design of geotechnical structures in the monitoring phases of the work.
